Mexican Sycamore (Platanus mexicana) adapted, fast growing shade provider, tough
Lacey Oak (Quercus laceyi) attracts birds, provides food, habitat and cover for wildlife
Bald Cypress (Taxodium distichum) native , big shade, habitat, nesting, habitat for insects,seeds for birds, small mammals , larval host to Bald Cypress Sphynx
Cedar Elm (Ulmus crassifolia) shade, seeds, birds, cover for insects, habitat, larval host for Morning Cloak and Question Mark

Possumhaw Holly (Ilex decidua) attract pollinators, attract birds and wildlife
Texas Redbud (Cercis canadensis var. texensis) – attracts pollinators, larval host to Henry’s Elfin butterfly
Yaupon Holly- attracts bird, butterflies, berries eaten by birds and mammals, larval host to Henry’s Elfin Butterfly, nectar source
Eve’s Necklace (Styphnolobium affine) nectar source, attracts bees, nesting for habitat
Texas Mountain Laurel (Sophora secundiflora) attracts butterflies and other pollinators.
Mexican Buckeye (Ungnadia speciosa) bees, nectar, nectar butterflies, nectar moths, seeds eaten by birds and mammals, larval host to Henry’s Elfin butterfly

False Indigo Bush- Amorpha fruticosa (in original plan but was subbed with a variety of Buddleia) nectar bees, butterflies, pollinators, larval host to some
Agarita (Mahonia trifoliata) tough as nails native evergree, birds eat fruit, nectar for pollinators
Dwarf Palmetto- (Sabal minor) provides fruit for birds, nectar for insects and habitat cover for mammals.
Shrubby Boneset (Ageratina havanensis) attract butterflies (fall nectar for migration), moths, hummingbirds. Larval Host to Rawson’s Metalmark.
Mediterranean Fan Palm (Chamaerops humilis) (added later by landscape contractor)
Sweet Almond Verbena (Aloysia virgata) Not native but adapted.Pollinators love it, hummingbirds, amazing smell. Root hardy
Wooly Butterfly Bush (Buddleia marrubifolia) – froze back in snowpocalypse, nectar for butterflies (this froze during Snowpocalypse)
American Beautyberry (Callicarpa americana) attracts birds and butterflies
Mexican Pride of Barbados (Caesaelpinia pulcherrima) – adapted, attracts pollinators
Bicolor Iris – Dietes bicolor adapted , attracts pollinators, sometimes evergreen
Texas White Spider Lily (Hymenocallis liriosme) nectar insects
Mexican Honeysuckle (Justicia spicigera) adapted, usually root hardy, attracts pollinators + hummingbirds
Texas Ranger Compact Leucophyllum (Leucophyllum frutescens ‘compacta’) nectar for pollinating insects, larval host to Theona Checkerspot, Calleta Silkmoth
Turk’s Cap (Malvaviscus arboreus var. drummondii ) attracts birds, butterflies and especially Hummingbirds!
‘Peter’s Purple’ Mondarda (Monarda fistulosa ‘Peter’s Purple’) not native, adapted hybrid, bees! Pollinators, hummingbirds! In the mint family so it spreads.gets taller than you would think too.
Firecracker Fern (Russelia equisetiformis) adapted , hummingbirds and butterflies
‘Henry Duelberg’ Sage (Salvia farinacea ‘Henry Duelberg’) Native hybrid, butterflies, hummingbirds, bees
‘Amistad’ Salvia guaranitica (Can’t remember f this one made it into the project or not)? Maybe subbed for indigo spires salvia? Adapted, attracts pollinators
Butterfly Weed (Asclepias tuberosa) monarch larval host source and larval host to hairstreaks and Queens, attracts hummingbirds,nectar for pollinators
White Autumn Sage (Salvia greggii white) attracts butterflies and hummingbirds
Fall Aster (Symphyotrichum oblongifolium) bees! , pollinators
Silver Bush Germander (Teuchrium fruticans) not native, somewhat adapted. Nectar for pollinators
Flame Acanthus- (Anisacanthus quadrifidus var. wrightii) nectar for butterflies, hummingbirds, larval host for Janais Patch and Texan Crescentspot
Fall Obedient Plant (Physostegia virginiana) nectar attracts hummingbirds and butterflies
‘Whirling Butterflies’ Guara (Guara lindheimeri ‘Whirling Butterflies’) or Oenothera lindheimeri? Native /hybrid, attracts pollinators
Silver Ponyfoot (Dichondra argentea ‘Silver Falls) hybrid

Sideoats Grama (Bouteloua curtipendula) State Grass of Texas, seeds for birds, nesting habitat, attracts birds and butterflies, larval hosts to Dotted Skipper and Green Skipper Butterflies
Blue Grama (Bouteloua gracillis) seeds for birds, attracts birds and butterflies, larval host for skippers
Mexican Feather Grass (Stipa tennuisima) native to West Texas and parts of New Mexico, Mexico ( might be invasive in some areas?)
