Arizona Cypress

Cupressus arizonica

arizona cypress hedge

You might think of Arizona cypress as a desert-oriented tree, but it actually does quite well here. Its silvery foliage and conical shape make it an outstanding accent or even a large screening hedge, living fence, or windbreak.

It grows to about 40′ tall and 10-15′ wide.

Give it full sun. It’s very drought tolerant, and doesn’t want too much water after it’s established. When you do water it, water deeply and infrequently.

This tree is very adaptable to various soil pH types, which is good for us with our high pH here. And other problems in your soil are not a problem for this tree. Here in Central Texas, we have areas with very rocky soil and others with heavy, clay soil. This tree should do well in either of those environments.
